“New year. New month. New collections.
Midwinter Graces. The name of my newest collection of watercolor musings, launching January 20th. Of course I chose my holy grail, can’t live without, most favorite, forever obsessed Woodlands palette. I am the self proclaimed poster girl for this palette…in my mind anyway.
Anyhoo, I’m always mixing color stories, as my Instagram followers can surely verify. For this small collection, I wanted to evoke a wintry feeling, complete with cool grays and icy blues. I added in some pops of deep, rich crimson to not only complement the frosty shades, but to somewhat signify winter roses in that loose, deconstructed style of my musings.
My color palette here was greatly influenced by the unmistakable beauty of my favorite bird (the cardinal) against the pristine beauty of a wintry landscape. I love winter. I love cardinals. No brainer.
I know winter isn’t the most popular of seasons for many, but for this always reflective, deep thinking, forever introverted girl, it reigns supreme. Winter can be quite lovely and graceful. My hope is that this small collection reflects that quiet beauty…while still leaving hope for the flowers that have yet to bloom. Midwinter Graces indeed.”
