ALWAYS WANTED TO CURATE MY OWN PALETTE…AND SO I DID

This week’s blog features Nicole from @theenchantedeasel. You can find her other blog posts here and here.

Here at Art Philosophy, our pride and joy are our Watercolor Confections. These are carefully curated pallets that center around a specific theme with colors that compliment each other. If you are ever in doubt of what colors work well together just reach for a Confection set. Sometimes artists take a number of sets and create their own by combining their favorite colors. However, Brand Ambassador Nicole took the curation a palette one step further by mixing up her own colors from Gouache. These colors are just dreamy. What do you think?

“When I first found out I’d be receiving the new gouache set from Art Philosophy a while back as one of my ambassador perks, I knew right away what I was going to do with it….craft my very own, personal, signature type of palette. It’s been a dream of mine to curate a palette of my own, so I figured this was a prime opportunity to do so.

These paints mix like a dream. And I should know because I spent a 16 hour block of time the weekend after receiving them creating this personalized tin of 12 colors. Do I have a name for this palette and all of these custom colors? You bet I do. And, lots of time went into that as well. But these little half pans and I, we like to have a little something special just for ourselves.

I will tell you I spent all of December and all of January mixing these colors with acrylic paint. Writing down every little measurement of every little nuance until I had exactly what I was envisioning in my head in front of me in paint form. I knew the gouache would be the perfect choice to bring this palette to life. And, it did not disappoint.

I also, really enjoying them on toned paper and layering them with the concentrated watercolors. It will always be a dream of mine to mix and curate a palette for a paint manufacturer. Until then, I’ll keep crafting my own like the little alchemist that I am.”
